SINKS: UNDERMOUNT VS INSET

Undermount kitchen sinks vs Inset kitchen sinks can come down to the aesthetics and your budget. The price of the actual sink but also installation can be the deciding factor.

Undermount kitchen sinks are ideal when you have a beautiful benchtop you want to show off. Set below the bench line, your choice of stone, polished concrete etc. Undermount sinks require more labour costs for installation and extra polishing for the benchtop.

Inset is more practical if you are on a budget as there is less labour cost for installation as it sits (the edge of the sink) on the bench (hiding the bench edge which is cut out, this doesn’t require extra polishing) and generally the price of the sink is not as expensive.

From a cleaning perspective, undermount sinks seem to be of preference. The choice is yours!
